Beaver Scout Section

How do I join?

Beaver Scouts are either boys or girls aged between six and 8 years old. The Beaver section is the youngest section of the Scout Movement, and is uniformed. As you can see below there is a lot of things to do while in the Section, plus there will be many opportunities to get out of the meeting place.

What do Beaver Scouts do?

The Principles of the Beaver Scout Programme are:
Making friends        Sharing        Sharing in groups
Making progress        Keeping the promise        Having fun

These support all that is done in Beavers. They illustrate what Beaver Scouting is all about and ensures that the colonies provide real Scouting to the younbg people of Beaver age. The methods used in Beaver Scouting are:
Make things        Meet new people        Sing and make music        Listen to stories
Pray and worship        Try New Things        Chat        Use the Outdoors
Follow Themes        Act and Mime        Go on Visits        Play Games

What badges are there for a Beaver Scout?

Membership and Joining In Badges

The Membership and Joining-In Awards signify that a Beaver Scout has made their promise and has participated in the programme for a period of time.

Challenges

The Challenges complement the balanced programme. These have been developed to extend Beaver Scouts' skills and experience. The Challenges are optional and continue throughout the Sections providing continuity from 6 to 25.

Chief Scout's Bronze Award

This badge is the highest award available in the Beaver Scout Section. It is gained by completing: the Outdoor Challenge, plus the Friendship or Discovery Challenge, plus a personal challenge. If a Beaver Scout has not quite completed the requirements for the top award before they move on to the Cub Scout Pack, they may complete it in their early weeks in the Cub Scout Pack.

Activity Badges

There are five Activity badges specially designed for the Beaver Scout section (Animal Friend, Creative, Experiment, Explore and Faith), along with four Staged badges (Information Technology, Musician, Nights Away, Swimming).

Group Awards

Additionally there are three awards to be completed in association with other sections of your Groups.
